abcimageLearning to boat safely is important and the increased knowledge will enhance your safety on the water and your enjoyment of the sport. United States Power Squadrons® America’s Boating Course is contained in six chapters. The course is divided into two types of learning; in class lectures with reading assignment, and homework sections.  The course covers subjects in depth, including an introduction to reading paper charts and plotting courses.  The USPS ABC is also available for home study on a video.  If you want more information or to sign up for a class contact our education officer, P/C Jim West, JN, SEO at 425-778-0283 and email link.

The USPS® The America’s Boating Course Schedule

America’s Boating Course – Next class Winter 2018, 2 April – 21 May.

The Everett Sail and Power Squadron will be offering to the public a 7-week America’s Boating Course on the fundamentals of safe boating.  Topics include:  an introduction to various types of boats; boating laws related to registration, state and location regulation; required safety equipment; accident reporting; protecting the marine environment; weather; and many more subjects of special interest to boaters.  The course is designed to familiarize the student with the basics needed to operate a boat safely and comply with state and federal laws.  Upon successful completion of the final test, students will qualify for the Washington State Boater Education card which is required before operating watercraft in our state.  The classes will be held beginning 2 April to 21 May.  Class will be held at the Corporate and Continuing Education Center of Everett Community College, 2333 Seaway Blvd, Everett, from 6:30 to 8:30 pm.
